Dear Diary,

Today is Monday, January 14, 2008.

I have some news to report.

I don't know if I have told you much about our Social Studies, Mrs. Mokhtarian, but she left on maternity leave at the start of the year and was temporarily replaced by Ms. Daly until Mrs. Mokhtarian could return after winter break. But, Ms. Daly announced before Winter Break that Mrs. Mokhtarian would not return this year.

Now, Ms. Daly is a wonderful and nice teacher; however, her skills as a teacher are more of an elementary school level. For example, she rewards us with stickers and calls us her "Snowflakes". I did not mind her, but a few of my friends did not like her.

But last Friday, she had disappeared. She told us she had applied for the job as Mrs. Mokhtarian's replacement, but I assume she was not accepted because she is gone, never to return again. She didn't even tell us, let alone say goodbye. I miss her; now we have a nice but odd, hippie substitute Miss West.

Next on the list:

Katherine's birthday party was a success. We had fondue with strawberries, angel food cake, pretzels, marshmallows, and bananas. We watched "Sweet Home Alabama" and went to sleep at about 1:00 am. I had to leave early the next morning to help out children at Sunday School, and I hung out with Mary, Jeannie, Charlotte and Kendall around town and at Mary's house.

I decided to finally confront Ashley in an email about the issues between us in our friendship. I wrote one long email, and she replied with a long email the next day. We worked out our problems, and I feel confident we can return to normal friends.

In Newspaper, Caroline, Kendall and I are about to cover an article about the construction done to our school. We will have a full tour of the construction done and we will interview some of the workers on the job. We will be able to wear hard hats! I am so excited, and I hope we can keep the hard hats! We may even miss our next period!

Well, I believe the time is late and my dad told me lights out. I promised you I would write more often... I have fulfilled my obligation as of now. More on Wednesday!
